Creswell Middle School - Kids Fun Run - Eugene Marathon 2010

While on assignment shooting the 5K and Kids Fun Run, both part of the Eugene Marathon weekend May 1st & 2nd 2010, I noticed a patch of kids all wearing bright yellow shirts. It wasn't until the race announcer called them out that I knew who they were. It turned out that these kids were students from Creswell Middle School.

I have a daughter attending Creswell Middle School but, never heard anything about students from Creswell Middle School participating in the race. So I was surprised to learn about this group just minutes before the race started. I wish I had the opportunity to captured more of this fun group but, what I did capture I put together in this roughly assembled video. Congratulations to the students of Creswell Middle School for a race well run!

In this video Principal Shirley Burrus and educator Lauri Thomas share a little insight about what brought these kids together and why they decided to run the Kids Fun Run in Eugene Oregon.

Earth Day in Creswell Oregon

It's about Creswell's Earth Day festivities on April 22nd 2010 and I thought it was appropriate for the Creswell TV blog. You may not be aware but, the City of Creswell in Oregon had fiber optic cable laid down Oregon Avenue in 1999. For over ten years Creswell has had unused and unutilized glass fiber for the purpose of ultra high-speed internet. I for one would like to see that fiber turned on. I personally make my living via the internet. I would greatly benefit from ultra fast and reliable high speed internet at fair rates and break free from the phone company monopoly that we are all currently in. I admonish every resident of Creswell to Nominate the City of Creswell to be a candidate for Google's ultra high-speed fiber optic internet experiment. Another test shoot with Canon EOS 7D using EF 28-135 IS USM kit lens

This time I am playing around with Picture Styles using the super flat style spoken of here: http://www.vimeo.com/7256322

I also had a .6 ND, polarizer, and gradient ND filter on the front of the lens... and why you might ask... well just because. I felt spunky.

Many of the images are pretty noisy although at YouTube resolution you can't really tell. Why are the images noisy you ask... well it's because I haven't yet mastered the settings of this camera but, getting there.

First test shoot with Canon EOS 7D using EF 28-135 IS USM kit lens. Random shots taken in and within Creswell Oregon city borders. Eventually I'll blog about my first impression experiences with the Canon EOS 7D, specifically as a video camera. Honestly I purchased this camera to primarily use it in video mode. Ironically I don't foresee taking very many stills photos with it but, then again, who knows.

Just the Beginning

Creswell TV is in it's infancy. My name is Paul Reynolds and I am starting a new project that I call Creswell TV. The purpose of Creswell TV is simple. Creswell TV is all about the small but, growing quaint town of Creswell Oregon just thirteen miles South of Eugene and nine miles North of Cottage Grove along the Interstate 5. There is much to be said for this old town and the people that built it and now, the people that live in it today. I personally have no grand plan on what I am going to capture but, if it interests me then I'll make a video of it; then I'll share it here on Creswell TV. I plan on finding interesting things, people, places, including business of Creswell and making mini video documentaries or vignettes of these interesting things.

I don't mind starting small. Hosting this little project on a free blog service is fine with me. Someday down the road I image Creswell TV will have it's own website but, for now, I hope all who follow this blog, which is no one at the moment, enjoy what I do. It is all for fun and I do this in my spare time (if there was such a thing).
